ESOS – Take the SDS Route to Compliance

ESOS – Take the SDS Route to Compliance

ESOS route to compliance

Following our recent post in relation to the ESOS Submission Period Extension. We would like to reiterate the importance of taking action to provide evidence to the Environment Agency (EA) of steps being taken to actively seek an accredited ESOS Lead Assessor to prepare and report on behalf of qualifying organisations.

Qualifying Criteria:

• Organisations employing at least 250 people
• Organisations employing less than 250 people but has an annual turnover in excess of €50 million (£38,937,777), and an annual balance sheet in excess of €43 million (£33,486,489)

Organisations meeting the above criteria are obliged to undertake ESOS Energy Audits to identify potential savings by the 5th December 2015, however, the Environment Agency announced recently that that no enforcement action will be taken until 29th January 2016 provided that the EA have been notified of the company’s non-compliance before the initial deadline.

This doesn’t provide a lot of extra time so we would urge qualifying organisations to get in touch with us so that we can take the necessary steps to ensure that the EA is notified and penalties are avoided.

It is important to note that ESOS is not a survey of every single site and SDS can provide a means to the most effective sampling method for your organisation. We can simplify the scheme, determine the most appropriate route to compliance and walk you through each step of process to achieve compliance.

Our Lead ESOS Assessors understand all of the technical requirements in relation to the scheme and will communicate these with you and liaise with the project team to collate all of the relevant information in order to register your compliance with the Environment Agency.

“ESOS does not need to be seen as a burden to your organisation. If planned carefully, it provides an excellent opportunity to boost your energy efficiency, reduce costs and carbon emissions. Ultimately, this will set your organisation on the right path for a more sustainable future.” – Christine McCann, Business Manager at SDS Energy.
